British GT 2010 Season Launch and Media Day - pics
Discussion
Hi there,
Popped over to Silverstone today for the launch of the 2010 British GT season. Looks like 2010 will be a good year with 23 cars running on track today (highest grid in 2009 was 16).
Highlight for me was the United Autosports Audi R8 LMS cars. The team have announced they are doing the Oulton Park round next weekend but not sure if they are doing any other rounds or just concentrating on the FIA GT3 series.
Had 5 laps as passenger with Tom Dunstan in his Ginetta G50 GT4 at lunchtime. Bloody Hell what a superb experience. Gave me a great chance to tour the building site that is Silverstone, and the new tarmac in places certainly made life interesting for me and Tom.
Not much of interest in the car park this year, a couple of Evora's and a very pretty Ferrari F40 was your lot today.
Here are some pics: -
Trackspeed's 2nd GT3R - what a stunner !

Lotus Evora Cup car was also on display

United Autosports R8's

Trackspeed's other GT3R

2009 Champions Godfrey and David Jones are back for 2010

There were two Aston Martin DBRS9's out today

Chad Racing and there STP sponsored 430 Scuderia

Predator CCTV sponsored Ferrari for Wilcox/Burton

Another Scuderia for Chad Racing

A selection of Ginetta G50's

Nice to see a X-Bow thats not Orange

Piranha Motorsport 2-Eleven looked great

Mosler GT3 - back for 2010

Finally another 2009 car back for 2010 is the Dodge Viper

Hope you like the pics.
Regards
Tim

Great pictures Tim - you have really whetted my appetite for the BGT's.
Even with the small grids last year it was an exciting series to watch.
Good to see the Rollcentre Mosler back - they must be very forgiving to return to the series.
The Audi's have said they would do Oulton Park and then consider the rest of the season for months now - if they still haven't committed, I expect they will only do the first round, which will be a shame.
Was the Lester/Simonsen Ferrari at the press day?

Hi there,No sign of it yesterday although its still on the entry list. Not sure if they have upgraded to a Scuderia or are still running a F430.
Couple of other teams not around yesterday but scheduled for a full season as well.

Tim

Hector's out in Australia racing, so that's why he wasn't there. Not sure what he's planning to run in British GT this year, probably a Scuderia.

Will check out the NW thread!
Bobbed over to Oulton on Saturday for the BARC meeting. So exciting to be back trackside after the winter break and the return of British GT will be completely sweet. Plus there is Superleague at Silverstone the day before and that means Dutch Supercar Challenge - what a weekend! Will be great to see the Audis on my home circuit, was fortunate to see them in FIA GT and Italian GTs last year, but nothing like watching great cars at your favourite local track.
Thanks for the pics, by the way.
