Does anyone fancy having a meet for one of the GPs?
I can't be the only one that would like to put names to faces and meet some people equally as interested in F1 as me. What I suggest is for one of the european races (Spa is normally eventful) to have a meet at a pub which is showing the GP. As people will be going to Silverstone, I suggest not the BGP. Obviously wherever we decide to have it will not suit everyone, so maybe if this meet is successful we could move it around a couple of times a season.

Anyway, just a thought, put your names down here if you are interested. If you put your county down too, we will have some idea as to where the interested majority are.

As I said, just an idea, I might end up in the pub on my own.

I would be interested in this, specially if we could find somewhere showing it on a giant screen.

No Legard though,, this is a key point. biggrin

Didn't they try showing the GPs in cinemas a couple of years ago? scratchchin
The downside was Jonathan Palmer doing commentary frown

I had thought that too. Maybe an email to Garlick if there is enough interest.

A few pals from my local Lotus owners' club meet up to watch the GPs together when we can. It's good fun to get together and enjoy a morning of banter and bacon butties. Through the season I'm mostly out and about at circuits watching live racing, but I'll keep an eye on the thread and would love to attend if I can do. I think Mazda Baiter and I would find quite a lot in common to chat about!

Mate, if we can get something sorted, I'll be there. Main problem is I have 20 meetings in my diary for this year already so I'll be spending most of the summer dashing from Yorkshire to Silverstone, Goodwood, Brands, Oulton, etc.! Usually end up catching the races on V+ in the evenings when I get back.

One possibility is our local dealership JCT600 Brooklands in Leeds. I get the Elise serviced there - they are franchised for Lotus, Maserati, Aston Martin and Ferrari. If it wasn't on too massive a scale, we could maybe meet there - they have a big screen and the right vibe, of course.

Cool. Let's see how many names we get to see how big the venue has to be.

Thinking about it, the Donington Collection would be fitting and is fairly central in the country.

I might send a cheeky email.

Sirtyo, all will be welcome. I am tired of turning up at car meets and feeling like I am "outside the clique". thumbup

i bet the discussion will be a lot more polite

"Hamilton is a bit of a plonker"

"oh, I think he's alright"

"fair enough then"

The Collection Manager is called Garry Rankin. I have his email address is you'd like it. I recently organised an owners' club trip there and he was pretty helpful - discount, etc.

Funnily enough, I just looked in my wallet and I have his business card. smile I was looking to house my race car in the museum, he said it would be nice to have it next to Damon's 1996 Williams.

If you have already organised a meet there it might be worth me dropping your name. I'll PM you sometime.

I think we still want some more names though.

shout come on people.
When we know numbers we can do a poll for available dates at the venues and see which one to go for.

Yeah, drop us a PM buddy. I didn't meet Garry on-site, but he was helpful enough by email. What is your race car by the way?

Will do.

It's a Van Diemen RF84. It's the car that Hill won his first four wheeled race in, winning his heat at the 1984 Formula Ford Festival.

I have sat in the Jordan that he won his last race in too, which was a nice moment for me. smile

If the conversation at the meet is the same as any of the usual GP threads, it'll kick off worse than a pikey wedding hehe
