BTCC RWD Cambers ,anyone know what they run typically?
Discussion
I am trying to work out if my car (ball part the same size as a smaller touring car and rwd, and about the same weight (tad less) and a bit less power 280 vs 230, needs its camber changing.
I had some new dampers that were way way to stiff / hard (they have done back for a revalve to soften the rear, as only had on the first 1 -3 click of 15 and solid). They gave me next to no grip at the rear.
I run about 2 deg front (have run 3 degs alot in the past), and think back is about 2 degs (it is all fully adjustable on the back). Tyres are about same size, 7" with a Yoko 048 on the, but on a 60 profile and a 15" instead of 17, but largely similar.
Thinking of going back to 3 degs all round with the soften dampers.
Think over 3 degs on my car might be two much though. Opinions? It is the TR6 BTW.

There will be a fairly big range dependent on the circuit.
3-5 degrees is likely the normal range that they likely work in (haven't run a BTCC car since 2006) but most other RWD race cars usually run in that range as well.
You have experience in this area? Does 3 both ends seem ok (think both are 2 currently). I know alot is the dampers, at the rear but think a bit more rear camber would help two, front is ok but maybe going back to 3 would be good.3-5 degrees is likely the normal range that they likely work in (haven't run a BTCC car since 2006) but most other RWD race cars usually run in that range as well.
Only done one race since a big rebuild of the car.

I would suggest 3 is the minimum - and looking at the pic above, it needs a lot more at the front...
Not sure you can read too much into that pic. It is going down paddock so will b loaded. I'll get it checked. Front seems pretty good / OK, the rear is where my main concerns are (need more traction). Likely to end up 3 both end I think (it ain't a Touring car and is not going to be changed from circuit to circuit).jellison said:

The advantages of having a mate who happens to race one in BTCC...
Back to the OP. As Simon has indicated, you need to see what your temp spreads are and consider how the tyre is wearing first.
Or you could hire me and a pro driver for a test day and we'll dial it in for you (and bring our own sandwiches).

I would try 3 at the front and 2.5 at the back in the first instance. Guessing based on what we run with 048s and guessing more because of the TRs rear suspension
Like I said guys - think pretty well settle on the way I am going.
In all liklihood back to very close to how it was last time it was run seriously 3 front and 3 back, that is up 1 on the fronts (which is not too bad), and up 1.5 (i.e. double) at the back.
Yep 048 not really like a 210 Dunlop slick even though similar width, (profile being the main difference).
Pro-driver is just a driver with more cash.
The guy I really wanted / needed to contact on this stuff is like a Ghost.....
