Cycle Silverstone

Anybody on here taking their bike along to Silverstone at the weekend; cycle the circuit after the racing each day. I'm thinking about it but bit concerned by rubber and oil laid down by three days of use, especially if it's wet.

I shouldn't worry. I cycled round Rockingham a few weeks ago after the racing was over. Great fun, all the corners are taken at full chat.

i will be there tomorrow, will go for a cycle depending on weather

........as if! Haven't had a road bike with skinny slicks for long and not ridden it in the wet as yet.

So what's a decent lap time on the new configuration?

I did 12m20s.

There were a few going quicker than me though.

There certainly were and one was not looking where he was going. Ran into the back of a ten year old, at full Tour de France pace, who was taken away in an ambulance and spent most of Friday night in Northampton A & E.

Fortunately he was able to walk come the end of the night.

Wow this is the 1st ive heard of cycling around tracks! When is it possible to cycle around silverstone? Can i just turn up and go for a spin at the end of any event?

Here they all are. About to brave the cold and the gloom. Nice chance to ride a circuit, especially for the kids. I remember a chap organising a chance to ride Oulton Park while I was at school. Was completely mint - getting my knee down through Hislops, etc. Tiring for a 10-year old though.

a good few events use race circuits now as its traffic free and nice smooth tarmac. i am competing in the goodwood duathlon this weekend.... 10km run, 40km cycle, 5 km run.... have done a few at combe too, makes for some good average speeds as you can really keep the pace up.
