I'm suprised there hasn't been a thread on this yet.

16 years ago today Senna was killed, RIP the greatest.

Also RIP Roland Ratzenberger who died the same weekend.

I was just 3 months old at the time, but both men have still had a huge impact on my life.
It's a shame that such a sacrifice was needed to make the world see sense.

Well, the amount safety has improved is remarkable. I think formula one had been lulled in to a false sense of security, due to the lack of fatalities. De Angelis was the last person to die in an f1 car, and that was back in '86. So much has been done to improve driver safety (the same driver safety that Senna was ironically campaigning for) since that weekend.

I still remember where I was. I was waiting for my sister to be born when the news report came on. I was only 4 but I remember it well, sad day. My sister wasn't born for another week. I'll make sure to raise a glass to Senna and Ratzenberger's memories tonight.

Sitting at the dining room table having a nice sunday lunch with my grandparents watching the F1 on the tv.

I would say he pretty much think he explained what he meant, no?

I was playing geoff crammonds' f1 grand prix on the amiga. original version so i was playing as damon hill, beating senna in the mclaren at monza. I was 13 and listening to the radio when I found out.

as a kid and being british, I was a mansell fan and senna was the arch villain. i
was warming to him in the williams, such an untimely death.

Always sticks in my mind is the BBC's highlights coverage that night, it was then that it hit me that Senna had gone. He left us so many memory's though that I will always cherish.

We watched the crash at Hartside cafe on the TV, on the way down a mate crashed and broke his thigh and punctured a lung, another mate that was with us was his mothers 50th birthday.
