Video: Thrilling Motorsport Spills

A trio of motorsport crashes to make you go 'ooh' and 'ahhh'...

As any true motorsport enthusiast knows, bank holiday weekends are all about motor racing. And motor racing, at least for the spectator is largely about interesting crashes.

So, as a post-bank holiday treat to cheer up your return to work, here's a trio of fascinating spills from around the motorsport globe.

First up is a definite 'brown-trouser moment' in the Fiat Trofeo Cup at Oulton Park. RacingPete had a go in an Abarth 500 Trofeo late last year, though we don't think he tested it quite so acrobatically...

Next is a quite astonishing barrel roll courtesy of Kain Magro in a Mini Challenge race supporting the Aussie touring cars at Queensland Raceway. Kain launched himself over another car into a series of rolls that ended with his car flopping over the (admittedly worryingly low) catch fencing. Miraculously, nobody was killed, although two spectators and the driver were taken to hospital.

And finally (as they say on the TV news), there is the monumental crash of Ricardo Teixeira, a Portugese-Angolan F2 driver who threw himself skyward at the Marrakech round of the F2 world championship. Check out the video from the on-board camera of Paul Rees, paying particular attention to the inset rear view. It really is quite amazing - and the more so for Mr Teixeira walking away largely unscathed.

Had already seen the second two, doesn't make them any less spectacular though.

That last video is unreal! It looks like someone picked his car up and threw is down the track! eek

How on earth did he manage that!?

Are there any other views from a different angle on that one?

Wow. That mini one especially - managed to bounce over every fence and tyre wall.

Really does show (both the mini and the F2) how far crash safety has come along in motorsport!

You're assuming normal spectators not beer'ed up Aussies, in the sun, sitting down...

It looks like a movie stunt. Or "better", if one can say it?

The Hollywood guys wouldn't have managed to make it this spectacular.

(Luckly the drivers were all unharmed!)

Awesome. Mental F2 crash. Long build up though. Happy no 'real' injuries incurred by anyone and a bonus day for the dry cleaners.

Why did so many riders come off? Was it due to sand on the track or something?

Some of these are pretty scary too. Check out how far this tyre travels @ 3.15
