Recession biting?
The lap times aren't all that (for 400bhp Tuscan on slicks)!!
Not sure why the numbers are so bad, but we have lost at least 4 drivers to GT / Britcar etc.Recession biting?

Plus there are a few not racing this year, plus still have people working on cars, we do have 4 new people racing (2 share a car though) plus I'm more active than I was last year.
As for times there was only 2 AJP Tuscan, one driven by a new guy, there fastest times was 2 seconds off last year, but they was a lot of mixed traffic, so was hard to get a clean lap.

Yup, you'd think that on harder compound slicks and with just the 30 odd cars on the Indy circuit, several drivers new to Tuscans and the more experienced having their first outing this year that lap records would have tumbled.....
Busy would go some way to describe the event. I couldn't get near last years times or my testing times from Friday!!A grid full of TVRs is a very different place than Sundays grid...
http://www.tsl-timing.com/brscc/2010/102331.pdf from this you are talking 20 cars - that is not much on the indy - well a low to typical grid size. God those SR class cars must be seriously unlike street cars!
I have to say, I know that some of the drivers were a bit concerned about the "Inters" and for a couple...it was bourne out...but it was excellent to watch and the crowd (yes...there was a big one) loved it. Loads of cheers and intakes of breath.
Generally the driving was very good, with 1 notable "inter" exception. I spoke to amgtv and they got the him on tape, it was obvious, and it will be in.
Wish I'd been in it, but great to see anyway.

I enjoyed the few laps I had racing against Leigh - good, close and fair!
Yes was fun, I need to learn to brake into Paddock later, you kept out braking me there.Hopefully they will show some of it on the TV coverage. looking forward to the next battle with you at Rockingham.

I read that as 29 cars in qually. with 27 and 25 finishers, so not 20 :-)
The times are a few seconds off the last couple of years, condiditions and many new drivers maybe..
The SR cars are total silouettes tube frame with lightbody panels and 2ltr turbos i think.

Yep it was a fun day out at my home circuit and a successful one for me personally. You've got to keep your wits about you with a real mix of cars and abilities, that applies to the TVRs and the Intermarque guys too - but thats the case in most other classed series but the effect is exascerbated at the shorter BH Indy circuit. It was difficult to get in a clean lap as has been said although I did manage a couple in qually. I had some good clean tussles in both races with some of the Intermarque cars (and Kev
too)although I know others weren't so lucky.
The SR class cars are as you say very light (full LW GRP silouette shell), very quick and very late on the brakes - as I learnt to my cost at Snett!

Interesting comments from someone who wasn't out there. I think Andy Holden's comment says it all. Traffic with over 10 seconds lap time difference between the front and the rear cars, small tube framed cars with much wider wheels and lower centres of gravity weighing in at 870KG with driver on a track with oil and fuel all over the place. Just what is needed for quick laps!!!! The Intermarque cars are quicker than a nearly 60 year old in a Tuscan with year old tyres but even they were well off the pace they can achieve and I am quite confident that in the right circumstances even I could match their times.Recession biting?

Actually, the racing was good and, in the main, track discipline good also. What we really need is some more people to come out with 400bhp Tuscans on slicks in a 30 car grid and see how much better they can go. Come on everyone. When I raced in the Tuscan Challenge, all cars were the same and capable of similar lap times, they handled the same and took the same lines on the circuit. Not quite like Sunday!!!
It is good to have full grids, to have a race and to put on a reasonable show for the crowd. I for one welcome the bigger grids and the challenge of getting in amongst some hard but generally pretty good racers.
