Dear Editor,

Has the Telegraph been reduced to shock journalism? Your piece on the 1 most shocking crashes from F1, Nascar and the Indy 500 is not designed to inform or educate people. It is designed to shock. It is not even about anything current. The most up to date crash shown was from this years Indy 500.

Can't the Telegraph come up with some decent articles to write instead of using the shock value of a few near fatal crashes to try and increase the readership/hits to the website?

Here are a few suggestions;

What has gone wrong at Ferrari this year?

When was the last time that a team had 2 such well matched drivers as McLaren with Jenson and Lewis this year? (You could even have a top 10 with this one).

Compare Lotus F1's first season with the first season of Team Lotus in 1958.

3 subjects which would educate the readership. I will even write the articles for you if you are short of decent Journalists.

It seems like my "ever so slightly annoyed" comment to them has made them rethink the wording below the videos... I suppose taking away the upbeat, this is fun attitude is something, however a better response would have ben to remove a crap piece of "journalism" altogether.

Indeed... Did no one actually read it before it went up?? Also, might be petty, but it slightly irks that they change the article, and don't apologise for putting such a badly researched and ill-judged piece in the first place... Can they not admit when they get something wrong?

I'd have thought Luciano Burti at Spa would have been in there instead of one of the nascar ones. That was a horrible accident when the car just vanished into the tyre wall.

There were lots more they could have included. However, I reckon the piece was cobbled together really quickly from a very brief search on Google or YouTube and there may have been some copyright issues with some clips which they chose not to use.

It was a dreadful piece of journalism and almost completely pointless.
