JJ Lehto injured in boating accident
Discussion
This is terrible news. JJ is a true gent, and lost a close friend, Evan Demoulas in 1993 whilst in Canada for the Grand Prix when driving for Sauber. His Imola weekend in '94 didnt help either, and the guy has seemed to got over all these issues. This one though could really do him some damage, and hope he makes a full recovery (and Im not talking about the bruises and breaks)............gonna be a tough time for him, and he's such a great guy. His family must be devastated, (3 kids) and I'm sure their thoughta are with the other guys frinds and family............what a terrible event.

It's only 40mph.
Yeah but I wouldn't want to sit in the back of a pickup made of fibreglass and a bit of wood and drive at 40mph into a bridge support. Which I'm guessing is the equivalent of what they did.40mph is quick for a boat isn't it?
Friend of mine had a RIB which would do, according the GPS, 40 knots over the ground (about 38 knots through the water) and that was plenty quick enough. The idea of hitting something at that speed, without the luxury of seatbelts or harnesses, is quite daunting to be honest.

king quick. If high jinks and alcohol were involved here it could happen.
