Kobayashi: "I didn't know how many laps were left"

He's not the fastest, he's not the "model" F1 driver, he's barely good enough for an F1 race seat (EDIT: "was" barely good when he was signed as a TD), but with all the politics of the F1 paddock these days, we need more driver like this one.
"I was concentrating so hard on overtaking people that I didn't know how many laps were left. Then suddenly I understood, when I saw lots of guys waving at me, that that was the end of the race."

what a load of tosh.he showed in a middle order car what he could do last year, and in a back of the grid car he can put stonking lap times in.
if i was peter sabuer id certainly be looking at keeping him onboard for next year.
you can take the crasher out of the racer, but you cant put the racer into a crasher (or something along those lines)

what a load of tosh.I don't regret him being in F1 and he deserves the race seat upon hindsight. But wind back the clock to 2008, how many non-Japanese teams would have considered him for a GP race seat? I dare say none.

+1. His battle with Button at back end of last year was fantastic and recent spells have shown him to be a really gritty guy, ( or as some have eluded to maybe just nuts? ), which I'm all for. Stuff the percentage game, saving tyres/brakes, backing off the revs..I'm gonna av him!Jungles said:

Back then he would have driven straight into Alwingo rather than gone around him.....
its probly just a mis-interpritation, the way the japanese show uncertanty is looked down upon when refering to oneself, fine when refering to someone else, and so he probly responded with the asertive "i didnt know" instead of "i wasnt sure".
stunning drive though, ive been waiting for him to show his stuff in the sauber, the safe way he defended from button, placing it a car and a half to the inside under braking, and then the inspired passes at the end, it was a joy to watch, although i will say the qualy on street curcuits is a bit laking, i wonder if it him trying to keep it of the walls or the sauber has a lack of mechanical grip,
