I was quite surprised to see within minutes of each other, two cars with right rear punctures...

Hans-Joachim Stuck + Frank Biela's R8 LMS was the only one there, as most of the usual ones were down at Paul Ricard for the FIA GT3. The car was running first for a lot of the race, but crashed in Fuchsohre 10 minutes from the end, causing the race to be red flagged. Stuck suffered concussion but is said to be recovering well, and they were still classified second behind the Manthey GT3 R

Broken exhaust mountings did nothing to slow this Focus down, he went round lap after lap with the thing banging about.

and to explain why I think the VLN is the best race series in the world....

above you have some Porsches, and an Audi R8 LMS...

and in the same race you have

a Clio

and a 30 year old BMW M1...

its sheer brilliant lunacy smile

nope, It's being used for PR work at the minute rather than racing.

A lot of the big cars weren't running, due to a clash with the FIA GT3 at Paul Ricard

Sabine was in her/Abblen's new GT3 R, replacing their previous RSR.

Manthey were out with their yellow/green car GT3 R, and won! smile

A sole Audi R8, run by Phoenix Racing, driven by H-J Stuck + Biela came second, despite crashing in the Fuchsohre, and causing a redflag.

Both Haribo/Manthey cars were running, Westbrook going quickly in their GT3 R.

The Moskovskaya/Manthey car caught fire at Flugplatz on the second lap, so retired.

It was great to see some of the historic cars racing too - like that M1, and some E30 M3s - will post some pics of the M3 later on when I get home from $dayjob.

Yes.

Will post them up when I get home.

In the mean time you can view some pictures from the ADAC Classic at the 'ring last year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/itwasntandy/sets/7215...
