Good idea or not? Dad and I are flying down to Luton then driving up to Silverstone Friday lunchtime. We've got park & ride tickets for Sat/Sun but on the Friday we were just going to roll up. Will it be as hectic as I'm imagining (i.e. hours spent in queues of traffic) or should it be relatively stress free? Any alternatives?

Also, do you need any kind of parking pass for the Friday, even though there is no charge?

Hi,

Not 100% sure but I don't think a pass is required for the Friday.

An alternative may be to try and park at the School in Silverstone village. Space at 'The Firs' and 'The Chantry'. Nominal fee charged. See:

Friday should be okay to just turn up. That what im planning. Last year the delays were minimal.

Do you have to purchase your parking ticket beforehand for Saturday or Sunday then? Or can you pay on the day?

I think they have to be pre-booked - you only get offered parking if you buy 2 or more tickets.

I have a park and ride ticket I'm not using, if anyone wants it. I assume it's an all-weekend pass, I've never used/seen 1 before.
