The mother of the Formula One world champion, Jenson Button, was among 60 guests who had to be evacuated from a hotel during a fire, it was disclosed today.

Simone Button was one of the guests at the Premier Inn in Brackley Hatch, Northamptonshire, when the blaze broke out on Monday night. Emergency services were called to the hotel on the A43, popular with visitors for the British grand prix at Silverstone, at 9.45pm.

The world champion has now rented a motorhome for his mother and one of his sisters to stay in during this weekend's grand prix, which will be parked at one of the campsites at Silverstone, he said

Premier Inn! Just made me laugh, maybe it was all that Easyjet flying he had to do last year

Believe me to get accommodation at that Premier inn (aka The Green Man) over GP weekend you really must have some influence.

I’m sure his Mom and Sister will really enjoy the campsite atmosphere !

They'll be on the BRDC F1 campsite I suspect.

Really down today. Should have been there since last night but have to go to Belgium tomorrow.

Not even going to get to see the race until Sunday night.

Not a happy bunny frown

He seems more down to earth than to spend excessive ammounts of money on hotel rooms which will hardly be used.

Is Jens a member of the BRDC ? – a VERY exclusive Club. They have also lost a chunk of their campsite to the new development .

Laughingly called a “campsite” How many BRDC members actually own a tent ???

Of course he is - as F1 World Champion and thus Gold Star winner he certainly meets the entry criteria!

Jenson is most definitely a member, as are almost all of the British drivers who will be racing there this weekend. I haven't seen how much has been lost to the new development but the area where the F1 drivers are corralled is plenty big enough to find space for one more. Especially if DC moves his soup kitchen wink

Tents were banned a good few years back by Bernie and I believe that caravans are frowned upon, there certainly aren't many of them there usually. One year I recall you had to send a photo of your intended motor home to ensure it was sufficiently 'bling' for BCE.

The above said every year there are a few tents which appear overnight on the Saturday biggrin

Eh?

How does stumpy get to dictate what sits in the BRDC camping area?

I know he gets to dictate on a lot of things, but THAT?

It's a VW Camper, he and Lewis were doing a promo thing in it for one of their sponsors. The BBC showed it on Breakfast TV this morning. They drove around offering random people free tickets to the GP. Jenson said the first bloke he approached and asked if he'd like to go said no! LOL!

So McLaren's sponsor partners include Mercedes Benz and Hilton Hotels.....

...and they do PR in a Volkswagen and book Premier Inns.

Would never have happened when Ron was closer to the team!
