Arrival time at F1 race?

I'm going to Spa - it's my first F1 race I've got camping tickets and general admission tickets. I'll arrive at the circuit hopefully around 5pm Thursday, and on Friday I'll probably mooch around and try a few viewing spots.

My question is about Saturday and especially Sunday. Will I be able to just wander around at will, or will I need to be there at 0500 in order to bag a square foot of grass bank to stand on?

Any other useful tips?

Spa is a massive track even if it's full to capacity you'll be able to bag a spot pretty much at will round the majority of the accessible part of the track. Best place to try and get a spot is at la source or top of eau rouge.

Spa is a wonderful circuit to visit. Its definately worth wandering around during Fri and Sat, you can work out where your preferred spot is and then suss out your best route in come Sunday. If you want prime front row centre seats then you will have to bag your spot early and sit it out!

From memory good spots include the run down from La Source, Eau Rouge, inside of Rivage (for close up photos) Pouhon, and Bus Stop. The last time I was there was 2004 so it might have changed slightly.

We went to Spa in 07 and got to the bus stop at around 6am and found all the spots right next to the fence, though we did get a decent view from up on a bank behind. A good thing about watching from the Bus stop is that you are in a prime position for the track invasion which you have to do! being under the podium with Kimi, Massa and Alonso was amazing!

So id say its best to get to the circuit ASAP on race day, although I rekon if your watching from the straight into Les Combe it may not need be such a rush.
