We are looking to hire two large 6/8 sleeper units for the 24hr, been offered the usual high rates by the main operators and can't justify that level of cost.

Just wondered if anyone here, smaller companies or individuals, that could offer us a realistic price for an arrive and sleep package, i.e all kit supplied, nothing to do but use them, no driving involved.

Not sure how it matches with what you've already been quoted, but for the Spa 25hrs the other week we used a 6-berth (where the rear bed can be used as 2 singles) Fiat/Bessacarr from these people:

http://www.ukmotorhomehirerental.com/hire-charges.

They offer deliver for £1.60 a mile from Derby which must bring it in around £750 for 5-days all delivered.

Can't offer an American RV but try these folks: http://www.xplore-it-uk.com/

Neighbours of mine, so you might be able to get "mates rates" - tell them andy from next door told you to ring them! They have 2 to 6 berth UK style motorhomes for hire. Realistically, you'd want a 6 berth for 4 to sleep comfortably!

Again, thanks for the suggestion but I have to sleep up to 8 so I would have to hire two of them which would probably work out as expensive as a yank RV.

I have found a company that will supply a 38ft RV, loads of space, sleeps 6/8, has four pull outs, can be delivered to Silverstone, set up and fully equipped and all for a cost of £1500 plus vat.

I don't think I am going to do better then that, as the rate is at least 50% cheaper then some of the more established outfits, some want up to £5k for the weekend, mind you, that's a very flash unit with hot and cold running maids !!!!!

cheers

Hiring 2 x 6 berths off Xplore-It-UK would definately be cheaper than that!

Hi Andy,

You would be right but I had to take into consideration not just those who would sleep, i.e. the drivers, hehe but also 3 children and other half's plus 4 grand children, 20 odd immediate family and up to 50 guests during the weekend, hopefully not all at once eek

So all in all, we went for the big fellow with slide outs and plenty of space for sitting, playing, crying, and all the other things kids do and we also wanted some extra room for the children hehe

cheers
