Does anyone know much about this circuit, there doesn't seem to be too much information on it?
I see it's designed by Hermann Tilke, who's a name that's usually cursed on here...
It says it will have "Asia's longest straight" and will be a Speed Mecca

Didn't Bernie & Co. ask for Hockenheim to be shortened? It's now 2.8 miles, yet Yeongam is going to be 3.5 miles, only 0.7 miles shorter than the old Hockenheim.

I really miss the old Hockenheim.

Looks like turn 3 is the 1 place to overtake. On that layout the track has the makings of being a boring GP imo. I do hope I'm wrong though.

Glad it's a longer track, It's a shame the tracks are all getting shorter, I was looking at how long Spa used to be earlier!
It'll be interesting to see if Yeongam is finished on time

I think the problem with Hockenheim was the entire area of the track was large making it along way for emergency vehicles to travel whereas the other longer circuits go back on themselves alot more meaning thedistance from one end to the other isn't as great.

Ok, I can see that would be a problem, but wouldn't Monza suffer from the same? If they built some support roads in the middle of the loop, I would have thought it would be no worse than some others. Besides, it's more fun to blame Bernie!

It's still a shame that they let the track go wild. I wold have thought some other series might still be interested in using it, but perhaps not?

Ok, I can see that would be a problem, but wouldn't Monza suffer from the same?

Monza is a much more compact circuit in terms of land area covered, compared to the old Hockenheim.

Do you think there will ever be a place for longer tracks again? I can't imagine one being built on that scale nowdays ie the old Spa, the Nordschleife etc. Surely they would have still been just as expensive comparativley or would the lack of modern saftey features have kept the costs down?

No, I don't think there will be. You can get a lot of track on not much ground if you try hard enough, the spectators can see more of what's going on, and it's easier for the safety and camera crews to effectively cover the areas.

I think it's unfortunate, as Spa/Monza/old Hockenheim are fantastic, while the newer tracks look like glorified go kart tracks. I find them a bit sterile, and, thinking about it, none of the newer ones have any sognature corners/features that I can think of.
