As above really, dont want lots of uncompetative (sp) cars at the back making it difficult for the front runners to lap them
The FIA might have tried to make a decision earlier to give the potential new team a decent stab at getting a car together then...Epsilon Euskadi have far better facilities than any of the teams that were accepted for this year, yet again they miss out on an entry. Makes you wonder what the selection criteria actually are!

It's not that really. The HRT car was lapping slower at Monaco than B.Senna's GP2 car from the previous year. Makes a bit of a joke of F1. Not sure if it's still slower around tracks than that car now though.egomeister said:

To be fair to the new teams, they do a pretty good job of diving out of the way when being lapped. The Webber/Kovi incident being the obvious exception, though you could quite easily argue it was as much Webbers fault.MSTRBKR said:

There have been 'uncompetitive' teams in F1 (well in comparison to the front runners) for donkeys.
At the end of the day, if after a couple of races or so, they're within the 107% rule then what's the issue?
I'd rather a grid of mixed performance (within reason) than a sparse grid of front-runners.

I wonder how many of USF1/Virgin/HRT/Lotus would have been chosen if the 2011 criteria had been used? Or for that matter, would other teams have been chosen in the first place?
I feel sorry for Epsilon. They had the funding last year but because the FIA messed them around that funding wouldn't commit until the FIA chose the team and the FIA wouldn't choose the team until funding committed.
