Decent Kart Tracks Around the South East?

Hi all... Looking to do some karting for my birthday in a few weeks but I'd like to do it propely with an endurance race or something similar. Probably on an outdoor track with some fast karts... Currently looking at Thruxton or Daytona (Milton Keynes). Has anyone got any suggestions of really good kart tracks? Don't really want to spend more than £75pp unless its something amazing!
Rye House in Hoddeston might be worth a shout. Used to race there in school's Karting and was always a laugh. Not an exceptionally large track though and high prices from what i remember. Last time I did a corporate event there we were using the Twin Engine Honda's which wernt bad.
I know its not the south east but if you are willing to travel then I would reccomend Whilton Mill in Daventry. It was one of my favourite tracks when i was racing cometitively with the school. Track size depends on budget but I always raced on the international circuit which is 1200m and a fantastic hoon. theres a few vids on youtube if you want to see the layout
Buckmore park I cant comment on as i have never raced there but the directors did a corporate event there yesterday and had a great laugh.

Attended a corporate day there last year, sadly we had a thunderstorm just before it started and the track was lethal!

Did an endurance day at Daytona in Milton Keynes. The track is almost as long as BP but flatter - BP has some undulations !
I've raced the majority of outdoor tracks in the South East. Here's my thoughts on a few, just my opinion of course...
Thruxton - Loved it. Some people in General Gassing say it's a "killer" and rough??! b
ks, don't listen to them. You get some pretty high speeds around there too, I seem to remember 59mph on the main straight and heading through the small S bend. Also the karts have a digital readout attached to the steering wheel so you can see your best time, last lap time, position and current lap time. I REALLY liked this as I could analyse where I was going wrong from lap to lap.
Lydd - Excellent track. Recently taken over by Daytona so will be brought up to the corporate standard. I hope they dont change it too much as it's a great little circuit. Fast sweeping bends and lots of space for overtaking. The standard karts were a bit crap and old but Daytona should fix this pretty sharpish (if not already)
Sandown - Good circuit. Smaller than the others but still good fun. Key corners are Turn 1 - FLAT OUT, feather throttle if you're drifting wide, and turn the turn before the pit wall. Don't run too wide as you'll mess up for the left hander past the pits. For the turn before the main straight, turn early, take some kerb and run wide (but not onto the green stuff as I've seen many people spin here). Had many a good race here, you can run over the kerbs to good effect, but try not to be too obvious as you'll get warned! Very much depenedent on which kart you get, so if it feels sluggish, get it changed. GP open is a good event.
Lakeside - Not a bad circuit for a new comer. Good selection of bends and different elevations. You can run flat out from the turn past the pit area to the turn on the far side of the track (devils leap or something). Take that turn well and you'll zoom past others coming into the chicanes (up the inside).
Rye House - Excellent track, absolutely love it and has a good racing pedigree. Fast, long straight with tightening long corners. Watch out when braking into the hairpin as the far right of the track is a bit off camber and you can spin. Move in a bit and carry as much speed through as possible. Accelerate earlier than you normally would think.
Buckmore - My favourite track. Love it, especially in Club 100. Proper racing circuit with fast bends and you can reach some pretty high speeds. The chicane in front of the pits is nice, lots of people spin there though. Going flat out past the club house is a blast too!
Milton Keynes - Excellent track again, they also do the DMAX karts (basically toned down Club 100 karts, with certifugal clutch). Love the left hander after the long straight, and the 180 degree turn after the hairpin section. Turn one is also good fun if you've built up enough speed past the pits.
You cant race at Camberley or Tilbury without your own kart so ignore them. Also Tilbury is an actual kart killer!
Remember, if your forearms start to hurt, it's because you're gripping the steering wheel too hard!! Relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax.

If you drive Club 100 I assume you have been to Clay Pigeon. Its one of the few tracks were they gear the karts diferently as there are no really slow corners for the karts to get bogged down.
For people who have not been there, you enter the main straight from a flat out sweeping right hander so your already going fast. Then flat out past the pits onto a downhill dog leg left, you are carrying some serious speed when you reach the right hander at the bottom.

They have just taken delivery of 40 new karts at Daytona in the last week or two.At last!

I went to Daytona in MK and thought it was crap compared to Buckmore Park.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
