Club 100 - Rookie Endurance team for the 20th Nov @Rye House

Ok guys, I'm getting into Club100 karting (as per my other thread) and I'm intending entering the final race of this season on the 20th November at Rye House, Hoddesdon, Herts.

The format is an Team Endurance race of 2hr 15mins but with 5 enforced pitstops for fuel and driver changes.

So I'm looking to put a team together of Rookies i.e. people who've never raced in Club100 or if you're relatively inexperienced/happy to come last

What do I need?

• [-]You'll need to be a member of Club100 £70[/-] LDN has confirmed we won't need membership for the final race
• It's probably a good idea to have practiced at one of the mid-week test days £70

LDN has suggested a mid-week test day on the 20th October which I will also attend. Maybe this could be a semi-official team test day?

• Cost of the race itself, it's £425 per team for entry so to secure 1 or the 6 legs then it's £70.83 each.

This is intended for all those people who've fancied having a go but can't justify a 'Sprint' race. It really doesn't matter how well we do, just race properly and enjoy it.

So if you fancy it, remember this is for the 20th then add your name to the list below. If we can get 2 teams then even better but 1 will be fine for now.

Not quite true. There is an team membership fee for endurance instead of the individual membership. However, for end of season you might get away without paying it!

Good luck guys, I'll be there racing against you , we will get to see who you are at the breifing so will come and hi and wish you luck on the day , a word of warning thou if it's been wet or looks wet that weekend, get yourself a wetsuit, the water sits around at Rye and if you should explore the grass you will get very wet....

Great advice cheers... more money to spend! Any recommendations for a good value wetsuit or just one of the options from the likes of 'tweeks @ £40

+1 on biker wetsuit, stronger, taped seams, harder wearing slightly heavier but you really don't need to worry about weight. Being wet and cold is very demotivating! If it rains bear in mind c100 always run on slicks no matter the weather, this may seem like a negative to the karting purists, and very discouraging to the newbie, however you'll find you'll develop almost unconsciously a prodigious wet weather low grip technique, that almost all c100 drivers have!

Any you'll get to know the pusher kart drivers very well!

I'm doing the British Universities Karting Championship which is run by club100, but doesn't start until February. I'd love to be able to say count me in but I wouldn't be able to give a definitive yes, so I won't. If with 2 weeks or so to go anybody drops out then message me and I'll try and sort something. I raced at Rye last year in November and it was very wet...as people have said the water really collects on the track and you can't avoid it on some corners. I cant stress enough how unpleasant it is to be very cold and completely soaked driving a kart and not having anywhere handy to get dry (you wnat to be outside at all times near pitlane to keep an eye on your driver). Bring as much wet weather gear as you can - would recommend plastic bags for feet and maybe rubber gloves for under racuing gloves as once your hands get cold the wind chill only makes it 10 times worse

Have fun though - its a great track!

I would say I'd be up for this, though I probably don't fit in the "Rookie" category having raced in the Universities Championship for 4 years...

I've updated the list in my OP but feel free to copy the list and add yourself to it.

The names aren't final so don't be put off if the list appears full, and don't think (at this stage) that you're committed.

I want to see if we need to put a deposit down, if so we'll have to ask for a bit more commitment from people.

Don't worry about experience levels at all. If you're fantastic then great, if you're really awful then, again, it doesn't matter.

Don't worry about experience levels at all. If you're fantastic then great, if you're really awful then, again, it doesn't matter.

I would say that while I am neither of those, I am lost somewhere in the middle of the two...!

Calendar checked and I'm free that weekend - pencil me in..!

Ok Chaps, if we are to secure a place in the race then we will need to think about committing sooner rather than later. Club100 also require the money upfront to secure our place.

I realise that for some, we're getting towards the end of the month and payday is maybe a week away so we can wait until then.

Can all those who've indicated an interest please let me know whether a payment date of the very beginning of October is ok? Refunds will be subject to Club 100's rules (just so you know).

Just phoned them to discuss a race entry and the 20th is full with a couple of reserves. There may be chance to get in on a reserve but they'll call me in a week.

We have an alternative of the weekend after (I think they said 28th) where there is an Open race with spaces left. It may be good to just book that as there is a mix of people who haven't done it before.

I can confirm that they will need full payment and they do prefer you to have done a test in their karts before a race (understandable).

Please let me know if you have a preference on the date

I'm up for the open race, for sure. What was said about team numbers?
