Also interesting to see a Carlos Slim company backing them, wasn't he interested in buying the team?

yep very much so
Slim's apparently the richest man in the world estimated at around 38.5bn pounds, or ten Bernies !
Expect Adrian Fernandez to be involved as well
meant to add that Perez only managed to come second in GP2 because his strategy was to come 8th in the first race and therefore be on pole for race 2 when they reversed the grid.
He's not very good. Expect him to struggle big time in F1. Sauber is obviously only signing him for the expected Telmex buy out !

Not a bad bonus strategy for Sauber if he can do it in every F1 race
Banzai Kobayashi and an unproven GP2 runner up. I bet they already have the autoclave on 24/7 making all the spare parts they're going to need next year.
Seems fairly well regarded by a few drivers and people who I'd class as being in the position to comment on such things. Can't say I watch GP2 so no idea. Good for Sauber that they've got some money coming in, no idea whether Perez is a good signing given there's a few good drivers deserving of seats. Surely better to give this lad a try as test driver or something first?

Gimme an 'M', gimme an 'E', gimme an 'R'....

With all the 'R' sounds in Wales, that would be cruel beyond belief

Not many seats left now, one at Renault, one or 2 at Virgin and then Hispania if you have the cash and that's about it really.
I think Sutil might be the one left standing when the music stops, like Heidfeld was this year actually. I'm tempted to put money on Chandok and di Resta in the two Force Indias next year.
I always rather rated Perez during his British F3 campaigns; not half bad. I'm struggling to see the next mega-talent out there just at the moment though, only Ricciardo stands out for me, although watching Daniel Zampieri in Italian F3 in the rain at Magione last year, I swore blind he was F1 material. I still believe Grosjean is a class act and was not well-served by his time at Renault. He has been awesome in GT1, AutoGP and GP2 during sporadic returns.
i would say that the telmex money guarantees teh future of sauber in F1 more than any driver could if their car continues in the midfield.
really hope this move out of pirelli tester doesn't totally backfire on heidfeld tho, he deserves a place on the grid next year. if merc manage to convince shumacher that their car will be a regular winner next year, i'd imagine he would stick around for that. personally i'd quite like nick to get the vacant renault seat but i can't see it happening.

Jean eric Vergne looked the real deal to me in British F3 this year. I haven't seen anyone that impressive in their first year for a while, Daniel Ricciardo also looking good the season before. And both being red bull drivers, if the red bull F1 team keeps their current design team i can see them having the future sewn up!

He's been holding back what he really wants to say about Mercedes by biting his tongue for so long now it's effected his speech
