Vettel or Hamilton

A lot of people this year have said Vettel is the fastest driver in F1, but then iirc similar things where said about Hamilton not so long ago.

Hamilton in the same car as Vettel would be faster IMO
ETA: But just to throw a spanner in the works, I think Alonso drove out of his skin (faster than Hamilton) in the latter part of this year in a Ferrari that clearly didn't belong at the front.

Impossible to know for certain unless they were both in the same car.
We know Hamilton can come through the field although he's not above cocking up overtakes - he DNF'd twice this season on hopeful passing moves.
Vettel showed weakness passing others including Button and Webber.
Out front in a good car I'd think they were pretty even though.
Faster on an empty track, or faster where there are cars to pass?
In the first case I think Vettel and in the second Hamilton, Vettel's passing credentials are a bit unproven in F1 and he has been known to make contact maybe more than Hamilton. You are slower if you are in the pits or in the barrier

I doubt anyone is arguing that the RBR car is the class of the field this year.
Vettle although it would be very close. (right now anyway)
Both these drivers have got some of the best engineers in the game behind them, simulation plays such a bit part in setting these cars up, i dont think either of them are that involved in a set up and development in the way MS was.
And Both of these drivers suffer heavily from there own red mist, Hamilton looked super cool, but his recent run of silly mistakes just show he is yet to prove he can be one of the all time greats.
Its good to see them in the sport at the same time though, it will make for interesting seasons to come with out a doubt, Money is on Seb having double the amount of titles than Lewis over there careers

Hamilton.
As Brundle noted on Sunday, we were denied a cracking encounter between Hamilton and Vettel. If Hamilton would have come out in front of Kubica, I think it would have been epic.
As an all round racing driver i think Hamilton has the edge, albeit he does have the benefit of experience in comparison.
It will be mighty interesting to see how Vettel matures now. I hope their cars are more equal next season so we can see some proper racing betwen them
