The last race of 2010 was just as much a curtain-raiser for 2011, as Britcar GT moves into the MSA accredited British Endurance Championship; Aquilla and Mosler set the new benchmark on Saturday evening, and just as importantly, a Martin Short throwaway post-race comment identified why the championship won’t be returning to Brands Hatch next season - “I was beginning to feel dizzy out there” qualified James Tucker’s rationale; “With the Brands Hatch GP circuit not available to us, it’s just not feasible to have the cars we’ll be running in 2011 on the Indy circuit for three hours.”

It is a shame that races 4, 5, and 6 are only 2 hours long, I see this as a minimum race length that qualifies as "Endurance" and only 2 hours at Spa seems unfortunate. I can only guess in the case of the latter that the Spa circuit charges have doubled due to the clamp down they are suffering in terms of the amount of days they can run !!!
Thruxton could be longer but there again it could be financial, but on reflection one has to be something of a masochist to want more then two hours at undulating Castle Combe

I've answered this one several times on other threads, but I'll re-iterate once more. Three significant factors why the Britcar 24hrs is currently held in October (which may be cold and windy, but certainly I've never been miserable during it) :-
1) Silverstone - they have fixed-date real money-spinners, some of them long-standing, during the summer months, which they choose not to relinquish; British GP, BTCC, Classic, Bike GP, etc.
2) Proximity of other 24 hour races - Le Mans, Nurburgring, Spa; all of these, held during the summer, could dilute the spectator interest, and in some cases, the entries, or certainly driver availability. Proximity of other series too - how many BTCC and WTCC drivers would be released for an extra-curricular activity mid-season?
3) Britcar Championships - running the non-championship 24hrs mid-season could jeopardise an entrant's championship aspirations.
For the moment, we have to have October. My view - if you can't change something, change your attitude to it.

Are we looking at combined or seperate races for Production & GT, or a pragmatic suck it n see policy?
Answer my own question - they will do the same as they did some of last year's rounds. Both grids will start at the same time, but production cars will get the chequered flag when their time is up leaving GTs to run on their own for the final segment.

Well from what Mr tucker said over the PA at brands there is going to be far too many cars to do that at all rounds, brands especially. Both grids will start at the same time, but production cars will get the chequered flag when their time is up leaving GTs to run on their own for the final segment.
