When it comes to privateers in F1, probably the first name to come to mind would be Frank Williams. But I think Peter Sauber definitely commands respect as one of the most resilient figures in Formula One, and a great spotter of talented drivers (Fretzen, Heidfeld, Massa, Raikkonen).

For those who don't know, Peter Sauber started in motorsport by building hill-climb cars in his basement in the early 70s, before going on to win a Le Mans 24 Hour race and the World Sportscar Championship. Sauber F1 was in Formula One for 12 consecutive years between 1993 to 2005, and returned in 2010 after being purchased back from BMW.

Best of luck to the team in 2011. In an era where most privateer team owners are only in it for marketing dollars, it's nice to see folks who have real passion for the sport and the teams they've built with their own sweaty hands.
