Webber - final 4 races with a broken shoulder???
Discussion
To me, it doesn't seem possible, but his other half says so...

^ except that he hasn't really used it as an excuse... yet.
Technically you are right as the BBC site said he mentioned it in his book, but then said he doesn't want to use it as an excuse. As for me, I do a lot of work for charidee mate, but I don't like to talk about it.

This really does explain things , just that millisecond slower here and there counts an awful lot in qualifying and therefore the race result , small wonder that he wasn't able to match Seb's pace in those last few races and I was thinking they tweaked his engine down slightly (he definitely wasn't slower than Seb at Silverstone and a few others). Another championship decider that could be classified in the "what if's" section.
It may not have been the actual injury, but the cortisone he was taking that slowed him down a bit. Even so, an incredible effort by him. I can see why he didn't want to say anything about it in the season. It's not like anyone could tell by looking at him that he was injured, so it would have looked like an excuse.

Remember when Montoya did something similar? He aparently crashed a moto-x bike but said instead it was a tennis accident, that ruined his season with McLaren. I think Webber is a bit tougher than most and would just carry on and grin (frown) and bear it.
Montoyas was more serious than he let on. Those type of injuries sometimes never heal 100%. The shoulder must be a vunerable joint in a bike crash, Rossi and Crutchlow both have similar injuries. rallycross said:

I know so much more than I can say about that incident.Life Saab Itch said:

t, in terms of rehab, you cat rush it, you will always have to keep on having it treated and it takes away so much movement for that sort of activity.before my injury i could happily do 3-4 hours on a track bike no worries, nowadays i struggle to do 30 minutes.
Late on in the first F1 season that he's ever been a serious WDC contender in, Man dubbed unluckiest man in sport goes mountain biking for first time since major mountain biking accident. What could possibly go wrong?....
Oh.
FFS. Fair do's for persevering, but didn't it occur to him (or his trainer, riding partner, etc.) that having waited 18 months, he might manage another 5 weeks, just to be on the safe side? Stupidity.
