Anyone been to the Hungarian GP?

if two pretty girls ask you if you know of any good irish bars around, ask yourself if that sort of thing happens normally. if the answer is no, then politely excuse yourself.
this year was the first time i went to hungary, it was fine staying in the centre of budapest and driving in.

lovely place, general admission gets you some great locations, notably on the hill around the bronze seating grandstand where you can also see a giant tv screen.
there isnt much shade around though. food and drink is limited at the circuit so take everything you need. camping looked like fun, lots of very hungover germans at 8am is always a good sign, but we stayed in Pest.

getting to the circuit is free on a shuttle bus if you have a weekend pass but no one checks. the shuttle bus runs from the main bus station about fifteen minutes walk north of the city centre on the Pest side of the danube. it takes about an hour or so. taxis will take you there and the fare is set on the side of the cab during gp week. if there are a few of you its quite good value from memory.
there are loads of good restaurants on the left of andrassy as you walk from heroes square and a few good ones around st stephens basilica. there are also loads of places happy to rip off GP punters but they are usually easy to spot.
its an incredible place to visit, parliament is worth a visit, the terror museum, statue park, heroes square, buda castle, just the history and emotion of the place is amazing.

I went in 1997. I have never seen so many prostitutes in one place. Memorably, I clocked one blonde Finnish guy with three different ones in the same evening. Legend.
Venue is hot and dusty, and crawling with card scam tricksters (or at least it was back then) but otherwise perfectly safe, nice, etc. The race was great. '97 was the year Hill nearly won in the Arrows, the place was going nuts towards the end.
I'd do it again, great experience.
