Yeah Peter Wheeler's car ran with a 5L for a long time, and did run with a 5.2, 5.5, 6L and probably some other variants. The bigger sizes appeared not to increase bhp by much but offered much more torque. The problem was reliability I think. I did for a while consider building my race engine as a 5.2 but after speaking to Jason Clegg, he warded me off the idea, describing the 5+L press car engines as needing frequent rebuilds, so they should be avoided unless I had a deep pocket!
