AFAIK its a 4.5

They made them up to 6.0L IIRC, reliability seemed to diminish above 5.0L though from what I've heard!

The ad did sat 5.2 at one point... but it was built for hill climbs so not restricted to 4.5 when it was first put together. No idea what its got in there now.

I know TVR made some 4.7s didn't think you could go any larger though,thanks for the info.


BTW the ad did say the car is fitted with a 5.2 AJP ,don't know why they changed the ad today though

Yeah Peter Wheeler's car ran with a 5L for a long time, and did run with a 5.2, 5.5, 6L and probably some other variants. The bigger sizes appeared not to increase bhp by much but offered much more torque. The problem was reliability I think. I did for a while consider building my race engine as a 5.2 but after speaking to Jason Clegg, he warded me off the idea, describing the 5+L press car engines as needing frequent rebuilds, so they should be avoided unless I had a deep pocket!
