Haven't followed this recently and I see that our local rally, the Sunseeker, in the Ringwood area is the first round. Anybody know what class the BRC is run for these days and whether to expect a good entry? Got slightly fed up with wall to wall Evos and Imprezzas in recent years although it's still a good day out. Oh, and is there any chance of Andy Burtons Peugeot entering?
Its a form of the group N rules they use so subarus and evo's will dominate the top placings again this year, i'm not sure what the entry is looking like tbh, craig breen won't be back with his s2000 car, cronin doesn't have anything on the table and i'm not sure gwyndaf does either, his son won the pirelli impreza drive for this year and it'll be interesting to see how quickly he can adapt to that.
It will be the last year of 4wd cars for now at least so that might be a reason to go, the series is going 2wd again in 2012 with slightly more production based cars. They think it's going to make the competition better, i think its going to be a bit s
te, the cars will be rubbish on all the loose surface events and the cost saving for a new car is £20,000 which when you are talking a £90,000 2wd drive car or a new £110,000 4wd car isn't enough imo because they'll end up creeping up anyway
Andy Burton can't compete in the international field but i imagine there will be a national event tagged on which he may well be in, along with frankly much more interesting cars.

BRC runs group N so it will be even more Scoobies and Evos! But they will be better than what we get in 2012 when the BRC goes 2wd only!
As for Burton who knows with it being the last year for the Pugworth, but all we can do is hope as that thing is awesome when its working.

You should check out the Cambrian Rally up in North Wales it has a large 1400 and Historics entry in addition to the usual WRC cars and Andy Burton.

I don't think 2WD only will be much of an improvement. Depending on which way the rules are stacked it will either be full of old, hideously expensive Escorts or new hideously expensive DS3s/Fiestas.

I had to miss last years but the Cambrian is a brilliant rally, even if it does take me 5 hours to get there. Also it is quite possible that it will be the last ever rally for Burtons Pugworth and that will make it even more important to attend!www.cambrianrally.co.uk
No the issue is that it is a home built one off car and that it uses a space frammed chassis instead of a more traditional one. There is also a move by the MSA to have cars only use engines from the original manufacturer so the many people with Vauxhall or Millington engines in their Mk2 Escorts will be shafted and have to spend more money changing them!
All cars rallied in the uk must now comply with K37 regulations, the most limiting of which are the maximum transmisson tunnel size limits and the requirement for arches constructed from original material (i.e. steel in most cases). Basically, wave bye-bye to anything vaguely novel/interesting............
