Lots of live coverage on Eurosport too. Breathtaking footage of the second stage there. The weather's supposed to turn bad tomorrow PM and continue until the finish on Friday.

A lot of people slag off Eurosport, but you can't fault the coverage of the IRC.

That was some of the best televised motorsport I've seen in a while. What a challenging pair of stages this afternoon. Think the Col Du Turini is still to come tomorrow evening!

And what a difference from only a few hours before. Epic, Motorsport at it's finest!!

Just what the Monte Carlo Rally is all about......

I caught the last 10-15 minutes this afternoon and watching the car control on that snow was incredible!

Petter was very lucky though hitting a bank at one point, I wonder if thats were Loix got his puncture?

I'm just catching up with the first day of Monte footage from Eurosport, good stuff so far. Good to see so many cars and such close competition up front.

Ther TV coverage makes the WRC coverage look like a not very good home movie.

And Delacour - not a bad effort for a 46 year old..

Thought it was a fantastic event.
Apart from Eurosport & IRC Rally Radio - the media coverage of this event was virtually nil. Very disappointing - we're not talking about any old Rally here, this the Monte, the most famous one of them all. Very little in the papers about it - 'none news' about no Rome GP/Williams floating. Even a lot of the car websites ignored it. Sad!!

Weird isn't it? I know rallying has fallen off the radar but this event had/has everything, massive history, big names (Delacour, Solberg, Sarazen), British interest in the form of Wilks, drama and genuine competition.

Maybe it would help if Eurosport packaged a short high lights programme and flogged it to the Beeb/ITV at a knock down price? It would generate interest and possibly bring new viewers across to Eurosport?

Am I missing something here? As a WRC fan, the IRC has passed me by until recently, and I was looking forward to my first IRC with lots of coverage on Eurosports this weekend, but I can't find any! All I can find in the program guide is a short highlights package tonight. confused

Ah! So it's not run on a weekend! No wonder it's not on this weekend. biggrin

No wonder it doesn't have a massive following - most of us are at work!

Thats only the Monte though. In the IRC the organisers are given much more freedom to run the events on the days they want, hence why the Monte runs with the IRC smile

The WRC promoters have said they will give a bit more freedom to organisers, but I doubt it would be enough for Monte.

To be fair I believe there was a fair amount of coverage Friday night and if you subscribe, there was hours of footage on the Eurosport player.

I remember the days when the RAC ran from Sunday to Wednesday, before it became the highly-sanitised version we know today as Rally GB.

2 live night stages on Friday night.

Do WRC fans know what a night stage is? wink
