...as I have just got an order for some of our acrylic observation mirrors.

Apparently they cut them up and use them as the glass in the cars mirrors!

Not much more to tell really, just in case you were ever wondering what the cars mirrors are made out of!

That is interesting but doesn't mean a lot unless you tell us who 'our' is and what observation mirrors are. What are they from etc? Aren't most mirrors observation mirrors anyway?

I'm guessing you work for a company that makes those mirrors that driving instructors use?

Nope. Round convex security mirrors that you see in shops etc. These. http://www.moravia.co.uk/asp/dms.asp?produktnr=B41...

They then chop out rectangles out of these mirrors for the car ones. 600mm diameter mirrors as standard are not that aerodynamic!!

How random! Everyday is a school day I suppose then. You'd never have thought that's where they'd get the reflective material from, makes sense though.

Are you sure they're for the car and not for their workshop?
Seems a bit odd when there are manufacturers out their making mirrors specifically designed for race cars.

With the amount we have supplied them over the years I would be surprised if they were putting them up around the workshop, the place would be covered with them!

That or they are very prone to breaking them!
