OK, so I got bored today, and was reading through the discussion going on in the F1 unveiling thread about the 2011 cars reusing old tobacco related colour schemes (mainly Williams & Renault), and I got thinking, how about some more old paint schemes on a modern F1 car.

So I've done a couple, based on the white base car picture I had from the black and gold Lotus competition a few months ago. First one I did was the red and white Mclaren, with the modern McLaren sponsors.

The other 'what if?' thing was for old teams that aren't around anymore on a modern car. So I did a new Leyton House.

There are loads of old paint schemes and old teams that aren't around anymore, some of them were real classics that would still look great on a modern car. So what do you want to see?

PS: Here's the blank template image from the lotus competition.

Ferrari circa 1975 with the high airboxes. It had the Italian Tricolore around the airbox. Very cool.

Current Lotus in "Team Gunston" colours. Horrific then, worse now I'd have thought.

That McLaren in Marlboro colours is very cool though. yes

I think along with the Canon/Camel/Labatt's livery, we also need the Rothmans livery for the Williams.

All yellow Camel on the Lotus.

One of the original black Broker Saubers maybe?

Any Jordan livery would look better than the ones the ex-Jordan team had been using for the last few years. My own particular favourite was the 1995 one.

Bumping this up to remind myself to do more now that the 2013 cars (mostly) have the nosecone panel to hide the step.

Which Ferrari are you talking about, the Ferrari red one with a white air intake fairing? Just looks like a Ferrari to me confused Certainly nothing to get excited about either way.

The unveiling of the JPS black and gold Lotus was greeted with awe. It seemed to herald a new era in the sport. I still reckon that it was the best livery ever in F1.
