Time for Lewis to leave McLaren

I’m a Lewis fan first then a Mclaren fan so naturally I am feeling slightly angry that one of the best driver out there is going to have a uncompetitive car again!

As his contract is due to expire end of 2012 what are the chances of it happening, and where might he go?

He wont leave, and be patient and atleast wait till the first race before casting your judgement on the car, remember the last 2 years they've had bad starts but its where you are at the end of the season that counts.

I do think that he is a McLaren man through and through. So sadly, my guess would be to the USA, to be closer to Nicole and bigger personal sponsorship opportunities, if he were to leave F1.

Even if the car is currently off the pace it wouldn't be smart to try and quit MacLaren.

If you consider the history of the team since the early 1980s, they've haven't been a team which have been off the pace for very long.

There is no chance of Hamilton joining Ferrari whilst Alonso is there. I think he'd jump at the chance to join RBR but Im not sure they'd make him the offer whilst Vettel was still their number one. Mercedes are still unproven and not that attractive to Hamilton I'd imagine.

I agree it is becoming a bit of a joke that McLaren don't seem to be able to create a decent car from the off but without having seen it race we don't know exactly how bad it is.

Wasn't Lewis only a second off Vettel's time this week in Barcelona?

he has been having singing lessons and will leave F1 to record an album of duets with nicole. a friend of a friend has been giving him singing lessons at a studio in switzerland.

As said already, he is a McLaren product and I can't see him going anywhere else, especially with Alonso and Vettel driving for the 2 main teams he could go to.

Well we will have to wait and see what happens in Australia to find out exactly how far behind they are, but I can imagine Hamilton getting very frustrated, but as others have said Ferrari is the only team he would probably consider and they got Alonso, so even if he wanted to leave he essentially has nowhere to go.

It will be interesting to see what happens if this years car really is a dog, and also if they are back in the same boat next year with another uncompetitive car.

Lewis and McLaren are intrinsically linked.

He won't leave, and they won't get rid of him.

McLaren have been bankrolling Lewis since he was 12. He wouldn't be allowed to leave.
