No - it was totting up, exactly the same as you or me would get for the same offence. Its not as if he hasn't got the money for a driver for six months or so.

As he already employs a few he should be ok...

Totting up, 'setting an example' - I expect the beak thought that he could afford a chauffeur easily enough.

Dennis, of Pinewood Road, Virginia Water, said that he should be spared a driving ban because of the inconvenience it would cause to his lifestyle

How very, very sad.

If it had been someone else, would the Magistrates have reacted differently?

Bit harsh isn't it??!!
To be consistent it should have been a 10 place grid drop (ref. Hamilton through red light in Canada 2008)

Despite my selective quoting, "inconvenience" isn't a word I'd use anywhere near a Magistrate if I were pleading to avoid a ban.

Just shows how arrogant the bloke is.

Ron is possibly the worst driver you have ever seen. in the late 90's he was always rubbing the very expensive rims on his SL60 AMG against curbs in Woking and has had a number of accidents in the area. Surrey road users are now safe from Ron.

"...he explained that he had a friend travelling in another car behind him and he feared that stopping suddenly at the lights might cause a crash." rofl

Maybe it was Hamilton's Dad following him, in which case, fair play to the bloke:
