Just setting up the Sky + to record the qualifying and race (I'm planning on watching the Quali live, but the race will be later and I like to series link them anyway).

Anyway, the qualifying is showing as being in High Definition on BBC1 HD but the race isn't.

Apologies if this has already been covered but is this right and, if so, why?

I'd like to know this too as I was gonna pop out an buy a Freesat box for the race. Won't rush if this is the case though.

Both showing as HD on Sky. BBC One HD, 5.00am Sat for qualifying and 6.00am Sun for race

Are you looking at the repeats/ reruns later in the day?

I'm seeing the same as you. The live Qualifying session is showing in Orange (HD) on the Sky EPG but the live race coverage is in white and therefore not HD.

Well, seeing as BBC One HD is a HD simulcast of BBC One is say it's a fair bet that Sky's EPG is wrong.

The qualifying and race will be in HD.

MOTORING: F1: Grand Prix
On: BBC 1 HD (108)
Date: Sunday 27th March 2011 (starting in 3 days)

Australia.
Jake Humphrey introduces coverage as the eagerly-anticipated 2011 Formula 1 season begins in Australia. Last year Britain's Jenson Button took the chequered flag by 12 seconds in a race that began in damp conditions. The 2009 world champion gambled early on by switching his McLaren to dry tyres, it was a decision that moved him into second place, and when polesitter Sebastian Vettel's day ended in a gravel trap, Button inherited the lead and never looked back. Martin Brundle and David Coulthard supply the commentary.

If it's white in the menu it's upscaled; not native hd.

I think it's far more likely to be a mistake on the epguide though, right?

When quizzed last year, I thought Bernie had discounted HD for this season so I'd guess it's upscaled rather than native HD.

No, it's HD.

This pretty much has to be a mistake on the planner that seems to have generated a huge amount of discussion!

oh great, FOM are offering an HD feed and F1 moves to VT4 here in Belgium and it is not an HD channel.
Well I've put up a freesat box and can get BBC1HD biggrin
