NASCAR - Michigan, Sprint Cup - anyone been?

Any tips for attending this race?

Im sure there are better races to attend from the POV of the spectacle, but this ties in with a mates wedding, so Michigan it is.

Ok, any generic tips for attendning NASCAR?

I have been actually and turn one is the place to sit because its where most of the overtaking occurs.
And leave plenty of time for travel to the track as the roads gets pretty choked up around there with the crowd.

never been to that one, but have done California, very similar track, can see pretty much all the way around if you are high enough so opposite the pits at least gives you a bit more to look at. Beware going too high though or as the cars pass they are so tight to the wall you wont see them.
The best tip for a traveller to Nascar though is never have your return flight on the Monday after the race, if there is a rain delay the race will be run on Monday. Happened to me 3 times on the run at Atlanta and the Indy 500 (which incidently ended up being run on the Tuesday!)
