Basically this is a drivers challenge which this year includes all Britcar GT pilots in addition to drivers from other selected series whereby the Driver with the highest number of points wins a drive at Daytona 2012. There is a separate championship for Production cars that offers a chance to win a drive in the main support race as far as I can understand it.
Just in case anyone following it becomes confused by the points system, as I was, Classes 1 and 2 in Britcar GT are lumped in as one in the same and provided that there are 10 cars in those classes, this provides the mean-line whereby 100% points are awarded. Class 3 stands in it's own right as it is likely or indeed the hope is there, that at least 10 cars make up the entry. If only nine cars run in either class, 90% of the points available are credited and with 8 cars 80% etc etc. I don't know if there's a cut off or indeed what happens with over 10 cars but assume that Sunaco have worked it all out so that it is an even playing field for all.
Nice prize for those talented enough to win their class, and add extra valuable points for pole and fastest lap for based on 10 cars classes, it's possible to gain 140 points per race as a max. I gather that the number of races each series may do is then used as a divider, so the total score for a driver that has eight races in their series is divided by 8 to find the mean average and a 12 race series divided by 12 and so on and so forth.
