Is it me or does helmut get Red Bull into bother with his mouth far too often? its seems to be fairly consistent that he opens his mouth and Christian Horner has to backtrack for him?

am I alone in this?

About Lewis Hamilton & trying to sign him when Mark Webber's contract ends in 2012.

Markko is a cancer within the team.

If it weren't for his friendship with Mateschitz he would have been walking down the road with his P45 long ago.

I have inside info...but I shan't. smile

This may be the case but he was and is a legend in the sport.

Great driver (winning LM in one of the fastest and most dangerous eras), great driver manager and vastly experienced within the sport.

A lot of these guys, who earned massive respect as drivers in the late 60's through to the early 80's, are outspoken. Maybe it is because of the cosseted world we now live in and the abject tightrope that they had to walk in the name of sport during their careers.

Wouldn't think Seb would want Hamilton there, Lewis would destroy him mentally and on the track.

There's being outspoken...like Niki Lauda, then there's being a manipulative, vindictive, bile filled, bitter and twisted old man.

Its just publicity, the reason they bought the team is for publicity, so you have to see it as just another part of them maximising press coverage for their product.

Helmut Marko was a great driver who had a very unfortunate injury shortly after joining F1 (hit a bird or some debris). Vic Elfords' book has some insight into him as a driver. I didnt like his comments last year re' Webber but you have to respect him for what he has done previously (Le Mans, F1, driver manager etc).

Surely the reality is that all teams from Hispania up would love to have Hamiliton driving for them? Obviously he wouldn't want to drive for a lot of them.

So Marko is right in what he says and as someone else has said what the team (and all teams want) is publicity so they will say what will get them press coverage!

Lost an eye when a stone was flicked up from the back wheel of the car he was following.

It's shown in the video "the speed merchants"

Respect to his previous efforts behind the wheel, but he has come over in the last year or two as a bit of dick in the media - helmut by name, helmet by nature perhaps...smile

I can't really see the issue with what he said, Lewis is one of the very best (alongside the Fonze) who drives for a team that can't build a decent car and has made some disasterous racing decisions, Lewis is frustrated as he wants lots more WDCs and there just happens to be a seat at RBR from 2012. Pretty simple really.

I bet Seb isn't pleased about the prospect of having Lewis next door hehe

I've always thought that Lewis or the Fonze would clear up everything by mid season in the current Newey designed RBRs.

Don't tell us. Horner is pissed off that Helmut is gobbing off about HIS team and business, whilst Mateschitz doesn't reign him in.

Not rocket science.
