It'll end up as a one spec series.
It will fail because Motorsport fans largely are not interested in Silent cars.


Also calling it Formula one to boost electric car sales would be a complete joke.
It would be an insult to the sport.


Todt can take Drag Reduction 'push to pass' rear wings and talk of Electric car races.
And shove it.

Himself and the FIA need to focus on the major issues such as sustainability and improving the show.
Not this EU bks.

How many 747's would it take to move these electric cars all over the world?

I saw a couple of Trophee Andros Electrique races earlier in the year (the ice racing series). The cars were still sideways, I'm sure it was still fun, but it wasn't anything like as interesting as the conventional races. I don't know if it's just the sound, but it certainly wasn't as good.

Well, on the youtube thread, there is the whine of the straigh cut gears. Sounded pretty 'electric' to me! High pitched whine. maybe it's a psychological thing?

I assumed that was the whine of the motors?
They weren't silent, but something was missing, if you know what I mean.

Theres no way in hell id go and watch any electric racing series!! A bit part of motorsport is the noise, and diesels are boring enough!

I for one don't care how much noise cars make. I think it would be rather nice to go to the Grand Prix and not have to wear ear defenders and to be able to hear the commentary on the PA system.

No a big part of motorsport is guys trying to go as fast as possible in any given formula.
Another big part of motorsport is manufacturers winning on sunday and flogging on monday.

Motorsport fans are irrelevent.

Load of crap. Noise is a large part of the atmosphere.

Take drag racing , what do I go to see? Top Fuellers, that's what. Some of the other classes are interesting, but no top fuel? I don't go.

Go to watch people go round on fast milk floats? Never.

Did you watch live or on the TV? I caught a few races on TV, and thought they were far better racing than the main series where it was near impossible to pass.

As a live event I really can't see electric power catching on the noise of racing engines is such a large part of seeing motorsport live. However, as most motorsport is watched on TV this may not be a problem...

Ignoring the "debate" about whether or not global warming is happening (or even if it is, it still might not be our fault), fact is oil is running out; so long term an alternative has to be found.

Motorsport helps develop technology & if it can help advance electric or anything else powered cars then that our children and their children might get a chance to enjoy the sport that we do.


crying about the lack of noise is a bit redundent when you look at the number of tracks with severe noise limits already in place.

Nowhere does Todt mention or even suggest anything to do with an electric F1.

The F1 bit was purely the spin that the journo put on it and some here have fallen for it....
