We'll be looking to stay in Lagos over the weekend and travel to the circuit.
Any idea if local taxi companies are reliable, or would we better off with a hire car?
We’ve always hired a car, not sure how easy it’d be to get a taxi to come and pick you up from the track, it’s pretty remote. Any idea if local taxi companies are reliable, or would we better off with a hire car?
If you’re staying in the old town in Lagos you might need something small to be able to negotiate the streets

I’m not sure if I should admit it here, but I’m quite partial to a Fiat 500 when driving around Tuscany - so that might translate well here too.
Can’t wait!
The wife had a great weekend supporting her brother.
Bit of a hiccup in Race 1 but back on form for Race 2.
I was going to go but had other plans, will be coming over to Portugal though. Keep an eye out for a bright red / purple 6ft 2 bloke struggling to control my 2 year old girl.

I was at Snetterton yesterday too - great racing, especially race 2 with the 3 Merc's and McLaren having a great battle!
Took my 13 year old son who loved the racing and having a nose around the supercars parked up - if the owner of the yellow McLaren is on here, thanks for letting him have a sit in it!

So this might well be a silly question/already covered but i'm going to ask anyway
What is going on with Ian Loggie this year?
I started watching the series last year and he always seemed to be there, or thereabouts in both races - hence being the champion i guess - but this year he seems to be struggling a bit especially in qualifying.
I was watching the GTWorld youtube channel over the weekend and one of the commentators - might have been Joe Osbourne - suggested he was a really quick driver, so just curious as to why he seems to be, for want of a better phrase, a bit off this year.
Has the change from RAM Racing to 2 Seas made that much of a difference?
And while we are on the subject, what is going on with the Neary's this year?
Looks to be a good year for Leung/Harper though

Weren't they getting BoP penalties for having the gall to run their car without the 2023 updates?
It was, I believe, an unfortunate victim of circumstance. As BGT runs under SRO regs, and thus BoP, those criteria are applied across all SRO events (this is 99% of the time 'a good thing'). The wrinkle is when somebody rocks up at another SRO event with an older car, they have to apply a BoP to it that is then applicable across the whole SRO world. In this instance, that hit Team ABBA. (why the BoP that ABBA were running with wasn't applied to the other car rather than vice versa, don't know, but this is possibly due to the other entrants in the other race)
(it was early hours of a long Le Mans when this was being discussed, so I may have got the wrong thrust, but it definitely wasn't a 'we're going to screw you because we can and you're quite fast in an old car' action from SRO)

Hi, I find using Uber in the Algarve is much better than dealing with taxis. Never have to wait long and you can track where they are. Great value too.Any idea if local taxi companies are reliable, or would we better off with a hire car?

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to attend the race in Portugal that IM kindly gifted me tickets for. I can't make it fit around my work schedule. If it's ok with IM perhaps we could give them to someone else so they're not wasted?
You're a wimp Craig It is a typically hot Sunday morning here right now. Nik is still in bed, despite us heading off to the Autodromo do Algarve in an hour and it's a shame you won't be joining us for it!
Cheers
Julian

I went to Germany instead and drove the Nurburgring! Flights just weren't going to work for me unfortunately. I need to be back in work at 0700 tomorrow and I'm currently waiting at the port of Calais for my boat. Next time I'll try harder!!It is a typically hot Sunday morning here right now. Pity you couldn't make it Craig, but don't worry about it; you didn't miss that much. Just glorious weather, some great cars, the opportunity to meet other interesting ph-ers and IM clients. Plus the chance to spend time chatting with Nik and Julian. No, you really didn't miss anything at all...
More seriously, pity you missed a fantastic day but hopefully see you at Spa next year.

Thanks for a brilliant day Julian. Was nice to meet you and the crowd, and good of you to involve us in the event.
It was great meeting you all, Alex and I will be talking about it for some time yet!
Thanks IM. Who said pensions and investments aren't fun?
Hi Julian,
Firstly, congrats on landing the GT championship - sounds like a lot of hard work paid off when you first posted about this!
Have been researching the world of motorsports sponsorships and came across this post - I'm a recent uni graduate interested in this world and was wondering if you could tell me a bit about the processes behind securing a sponsorship such as this?
e.g. does the series advertise opportunities for sponsorship or did you just go straight to them with a proposal and do sponsor brokers get involved
Any insights would be much appreciated,
Thanks
