This is the new Nissan GT-R GT3, which has jointly been developed by Nismo and JR Motorsports and which has just completed its first competitive event - at Magny Cours in France.

FIA GT3 racing is about to get even busier with Nismo-developed entry
Although the infamous Godzilla also runs in the super GT series in Japan and the FIA GT1 world Championships, that's with V8 power, whereas that GT3 GT-R has much more in common with the road car (well, it runs a turbocharged V6, but is rear-wheel-drive only).
The GT3 endurance marketplace is getting pretty crowded these days, what with the McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes SLS and even the new Aston V12 Vantage looking for a slice of the action, but it's always good to see healthy manufacturer interest in a sport, and Nissan's entry can only be a good thing.
Seems as though all went well, too, with drivers Richard Westbrook and David Brabham taking 8th place out of a 35-car field in the Blancpain Endurance Series race, despite only managing to start 18th. All bodes well for the 2012 GT3 season, we reckon...

In my opinion if Nissan decided to release a Superleggera/GT3RS style roadgoing GTR it would be in serious, serious demand
I know i would pay 85-95k for a very lightweight factory version possibly with ceramics, bodykit and 650+bhp
So come on Nissan what are you waiting for?
Would love to see what a RWD one goes like too - but only out of curiosity

GT3 field really is shaping up for a very interesting series with renewed interest from manafactures and some truly stunning looking cars.

Funny you say that - a few months ago I almost fell off my chair when I first saw pictures of a blue GTR.Then came along Silverstone F1 and I spotted one in the parking area. I ran over waiting to see something of beauty but in reality it was such a let down. Maybe because it wasn't super shiney like the pics, but the colour isn't as great in real life. Everyone else was taking pics of the F360 a few spaces away and walking right past the GTR as it looked like a large family saloon if anything.
Shame - the pics make it look like a stunner, but on a cloudy day and a lack of polish made it quite dull.

Well I can confirm that the car looked great in the flesh on Saturday night and whilst it wasn't front running it wasn't a bad first outing.
I was quite disappointed by the MP4/12 but i understand that they are very sensitive to the brand of round black sticky stuff used.

Yes but the SpecV was such a flop. The brakes alone cost £40k which was just insane.They should strip one out more and put a nice roll cage in the back, big spoiler, few engine mods and bigger brakes, lots of carbon bits and and charge 90k...

The Nissan GTR spec V was in essence Nissan's equivelent of the Porshce GT3 road car. It was about 80kgs lighter than the normal GTR and about 600bhp. Also had carbon ceramic brakes and uprated suspension but got rid of the rear seats. Sold for about £120k or thereabouts in Europe, so the car you are after already exists, just not for £85/90k. I mean a lightweight, ceramic braked, 650bhp road car for 85/90k!

Unfortunately though it didn't receive very favourable reviews for some reason.
As for the race car, I love the fact that GT3 appears to be getting a lot of manufacturers entering again. It really is the most exciting motorsport for me this year.

No one will buy it to use, it will sit there gathering value, dust and what ever else rare editions gather.
The specV is everything you posted exept the price.
