Edinburgh to Liverpool - On bike, off highways

Hi All,

We are ridign down to from Aberdeen to Liverpool to get the ferry to the IOM for the TT.

I have the route to Edinburgh sorted as there is only one option but from then onwards I am a little in the dark. Overnight stop proposed somewhere near the border.

Need to have decent interesting roads but dont want them too tight and twisty as have to be able to do 200miles a day with the old man (61yrs old) so cant be ultra taxing roads.

Any comments?

I love the A68

So for me, it'd be A68 from Edinburgh to Darlington, half an hour of A1, then the A59 Harrogate to Liverpool - simple!
