Going to stay with my folks in Bridgend next week and wanted some suggestions on the best route to take through the Black Mountains for a blast during the week(provided weather is good).

Want to make sure i take 'the bend' going up hill rather than down hill. Happy to be out 3/4 hours with Bridgend being the beginning and end.

Any advice appreciated.

/\ /\ /\This. You could also nip up to the Elan valley from Builth, & if you do that you might as well nip across the A44 to Aberystwyth, follow the coast road to Aberaeron, & the 482 back to Llangadog & resume the route. thumbup

Yeah I wish. Im lucky im managing to convince the wife its a good idea that I give her time on her own so she can catch up with friends and get some work done. 3 hours will be pushing it. May get 4 hours out if im a good boy.

Plus the Abergwesyn pass past Lyn Brianne reservoir towards Rhand y miwn smilesmile

And the classic road rally route, 'The Old Trecastle Road' from Trecastle to Tavern Y Garreg.

Why not take 'the bend' both ways a couple of times, just for good measure? biggrin

All im going to say is I want to drive it now, great route! biggrinbiggrin

Though a slight change to the route taking you from Bulith to Upper Chapel and back north again takes you on one of my best roads in South Wales.
