Help me plan a trip?

Guys,

Wanted to tap into the knowledge on this forum although I accept I'm being a bit lazy and cheeky with my request!

Want to really give my newish baby (Aston) a workout and was thinking of a European road trip for a period of about a week.

I will be setting off from London and wanted to pick some brains to see what the general consensus is for a good route. I was thinking of France or Switzerland but am also cognisant of the speeding/police issue in France and the fact that Switzerland is quite far. But of course I'm attracted by route napoleon/col de turini and the Swiss passes. That engine note in tunnels is so intoxicating I will go out of my way for any great tunnel runs too....

So. All tips welcome. I'm very much a novice when it comes to Europe

Priority would be great roads and weather but tips on a general route (getting from and back to London within a week) as well as tips on the best way to get into Europe, and decent places to stay/visit, restaurants etc etc.

The Route Napoleon, although superb, will be busy in July (and it ends in the south of France)! With just a week I would head to Interlaken in Switzerland (8 hours boring drive from Calais). You are then in a great location to tackle some fabulous passes (and tunnels), including Grimsel, Furka, St. Gotthard etc. knowing you can drive back in a (long) day.

As you are a newby, I would go via Luxembourg, so German Autobahn which is unlimited and stay near Baden Baden to do the B500 thru the Black Forest to Switzerland
Head to Andermatt thru Interlaken and the Reichenbach Falls
Day 3 I would do the Andermatt Loop Furka,Grimsel S Bernadino passes etc
Day 4 Head to Gt St Bernard pass and head to Geneve
THen Head to Dijon and Troyes which is a great road not motorway D971
Head to the champagne region and go home

If you're into tunnel runs, the Autoroute del Fiori along the Italian Riviera is a must. From the French border to Genova, there are no less than 67 tunnels over 113km - that means the best place in the world for a tunnel run, not to mention the massive bridges in between and the spectacular views of the Mediterranean coast.
