Calais to Lyons - Advice Please
Discussion
Travelling from Calais to Lyon Wednesday night/Thursday morning, mainly on the A26/E15. Are there any known traffic blackspots I should avoid?
Also, I'll be travelling to Ashford and hitting the M4/M25 area about 4.00pm. Are the roads normally fairly good about that time of day, any roadworks etc.
Thanks

The A26 is a quiet autoroute, shouldn't have many issues on it - except potentially around Reims around the A4. Otherwise traffic on the A6, especially through Lyon is the only real worry.
Watch out for Les Gendarmes on the A26, it isn't called l'Autoroute des Anglais because it goes to Calais, but because we pay for it with fines
M4/M25 area is always a potential bad bottleneck - especially from 4pm onwards!

'Les Gendarmes' aren't too much of a concern - I'll be trundling along about 60mph in the old motorhome

I got held up around Reims a couple of year back - made the mistake of trying to through to get some shopping rather than around and shop elsewhere. Think they were ripping out the bendy-bus routes and putting in tramlines or the like. Swore I'd never go back in there again

As above I found the autoroutes very quiet. Also Lyon is a lovely place
Sadly I'm not going to get much time to look around - we are only going because my youngest is representing the UK at 1/8th scale RC Rallycross there.
Leaving shortly, get there tomorrow afternoon, Practice Friday, Qualifying Saturday, Race Sunday and back in work Tuesday

Thanks for the advice guys.
