Essex to Nottingham

Hi,

Driving to Nottingham from Essex this weekend. Was thinking of hacking up the M11 then cutting across. Anyone know any good routes/roads... Going in my STi so looking for fast country roads

Probably too late to help...

M11 - A14 - A1. Then take the A606 and come in to Nottingham from the south.

In the sixties I was frequently driven from Nottingham to Cambridge to visit Grandparents, always on a Sunday.

On the radio on the way back - Down Your Way with Franklin Engleman, Pick of the Pops with Allan Freeman and Sing Something Simple. Vauxhall Cresta 425 EAU or Viva 339 YAL.

You could come off the A1 at Stretton, then go to Thistleton, Wymondham, then join the B676 into Melton. If traffic is light then go west out of Melton on the A6006 towards Loughborough and then head up the A60 into Nottingham. These are all good, relatively wide non-primary routes.
