I quite fancy a drive out tomorrow morning. I was thinking of heading out on the A57 from Sheffield to Glossop, stopping for a coffee and then coming back along the Woodhead. However, I know both roads can be extremely busy but what are they like on a Sunday morning generally? I won't be able to get out there till 9.30 - 10 by which time people normally start to emerge I guess. I've never driven it at this time so don't know but sure someone will have??

Alternatively can anyone recommend a simlar route if that ones too popular?

It's usually full of mentalists that time on a weekend morning! Watch out for the camera van lurking over the brow of the hill on the long straight after ladybower.

Cheers mate, I did the Holme Moss Road and came back along the snake. Was very impressed with the Holme Moss, no traffic, fantastic road with some challenging bits. However the Snake was completely chocka! So much so I did the old 'join the back of a moron train, pull into the side until someone appears in the rear view mirror and then catch them back up again'. Did spot the cameravan too but I was on the back of a train at that point.
