Hardly a stretch of road that gets the juices flowing, but even so I've been meaning to post this for a while.

It's a stretch of urban duel carriageway, 2/3 lanes on each side, concrete central reservation/sides for the most part.

It was a 50mph limit apart from a sharpish turn near Hackney where it dropped to 40mph for a short time (with a scamera just after the hazard but before the limit went back to 50mph - cynical, moi? ) but in the last few weeks, a huge chunk of it has dropped to a 40mph limit. What is the reasoning for this? Everybody still drives at the same speed - TBH when the road is clear 60+ is perfectly acceptible for some sections.

Even more annoying is that in the tunnelled sections the white lines separating the lines are now double whites! Ludicrous - a nice swept bend, good camber, good visibility, dual carriageway, and they stick double whites on it!

Anybody else seen this? Utter madness...

Thanks - missed that topic!

What a load of balls though - blanket reduction in speed limit because a few half wits went too fast round a blind bend - limit is a limit, not a target if the bend is too sharp for the speed, slow down

The seed limits further up the road towards Redbridge were screwed up too for ages - went 40-30-40-30 in the space of about 100 yards! Anybody who knows the road will know that 30 is dangerously slow.

And the reply still didn't explain why the double whites came in!
