I have just finished updating http://www.worlds-best-drives.com I have added more maps, photos and GPX files. GPX files are a collection of markerpoints that can be converted into satnav files using an application like Tyre (http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/help/). Please take a look. I still have lots to do, may add hotels at the beginning and end of each route. I think that will really useful for any road trip.

Thanks for adding the route "Fast moorland route with stunning views". You are the second person to add a route. How did you find the route adding tool?

I'll take a look at the route tommorow and add it to the site.

Tool was easy - the only iffy bit was when I came to end at the starting point the starting point one disappeared when I aded the last point. I don't know if that was visible to you, but on the map I lost point 1.

p.s. Couple of things that you might consider useful
1. several routes I have can be linked to others e.g. there is one route already on your site Settle to Hawes which can then be tied in to Buttertubs pass, then onto Reeth, up through Arkengarth and join up with the northumberland one. I could be useful to be able to suggest pre or post routes. (obviously you could only do this as an update after the initial posting.

2. Possible stop off points on the route particularly for longer ones - eg on my route Hexham, Bowes Museum and castle in barnard castle and there is a waterfall as well (can't remember just now).

2.

Thanks for your reply, I'll take a look at linking routes and stop off places.

Great site. Do these routes work on both garmin and tom tom? Could probably do with a page on "how to" use the downloads.

The GPX files can be converted for any satnav. GPX is an Internet format for directions/navigation. There are lots programs that convert these file, my favorite is Tyre http://www.tyre.tk which shows the route on a map and lets you save it as a TomTom/Garmin/Navman etc file. Would be best to do a demo on your Satnav before driving the routes, the routes were plotted on Google Maps which maybe more upto date then you Satnav device.

I'll take a look at the instruction and try to make them clearer.

Thanks for your comments.
