Looking to go for a blast tomorrow. What are the best roads around here that will suit my Clio 200? Ideally 90 min round trip in total from Leeds.

Thanks

I do a lot of driver training out of Leeds. Try going North past Harewood House, find your way towards Harrogate, West on the A59 and take one of the left turns around the Blubberhouses area towards Otley. Plenty to explore around there. Or head out East under the A1(m) towards Boston Spa/Tadcaster/Selby.
If you ever have more than 90minutes to spare have a look at the road between Goole and Crowle driving

How about something like this? It'll be nearer 90 mins that Google says when you're in a Clio 200 smile

Might not be such a problem at this time of year, but I'd suggest going early to avoid the dawdlers? If you find a good route please report back!

Looks good. I've actually ridden the stretch from Pool to Lindley Wood Reservoir and up the brutal climb on my road bike (bicycle!) a few times. Always headed East towards Harrogate, so might have a look over to the west that your route suggests.

I'm not great with the area but if you end up near harrogate there's some great little roads between harrogate and wetherby. the spofforth - follifoot road is particularly good for tight bends but do be careful for buses, farm vehicles etc. also blubberhouses area as mentioned can be good.

eta: I sometimes see some nutter out in that area at the weekends, driving the wheels off an old alfa that sounds fantastic. if you see him grab a picture!

That looks like a decent run out, I might give it a go on Saturday morning if the weather's nice as i'm based in Horsforth!

Well i did a lap of this route this morning (starting from Horsforth, North Leeds)............... and it was awesome! cool

I did the loop anti-clockwise, and i'm not exaggerating when I say I enjoyed the drive from Pool to Greenhow Hill as much as any of the Alpine passes I've been on over the last couple of years! Nice open, flowing roads and the weather was spot on!

I took my DSLR camera out with me hoping to get some good photos - but I didn't end up taking any as I didn't want to stop as I had clear roads for the full 90 minutes of driving! biggrin No way was I going to risk getting stuck behind a group of dawdlers!

If anyone ever fancies a drive out in the Dales on a weekend morning let me know!

(I drive a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo by the way)

Keep an eye on the Yorkshire forum. There's usually some run-outs through the year when the weather is decent.
