Morning all,

Very quick question, and perhaps this could sit in Holidays and Travel - but either way, I've decided here.

Tomorrow morning I have to get down to Gawtick Airport (South terminal) - plan is to go from the OH's parents place, in Selsdon, South Croydon. I have two options for aroute and I'd appreciate any opinions on which would be better - my flight leaves at 10.30, so I was aiming to get to the car park at 7.45-8ish.

1) Straight through Purley, down the A23 and M23...very easy.

2) Down towards Caterham on the A22 and join up the the M25 for one junction a J6

Appreciate views as I've no experience of Friday rush hour around there, and SWMBO is being decidedly vague about what the traffic is like! To me it feels like a leaving at 7am jobby to allow plenty of time?!

Cheers,
alex

ooo, tricky this one. i'd prob go for the a23/m23 route you said, although not sure what its like at the
time of day you want to go. i'd avoid the m25 when ever possible, although the worst bit for getting to gatwick, is normally back at junction 4, round to clacketts lane services and upto junction 6.
the only thing i'd def do, is what ever time you plan to leave, leave an hour before that;)

See, SWMBO is convinced we go to her parents overnight, as it's only 20 miles away. I personally, am convinced it wouldn't take much longer to get to Gatwick from Southampton using the back route I normally take...which is a LOT better roads too.

Sadly, I feel I might lose the battle of wills.
