Looking for info on BMW club run(Sun. April 15), Elan Valley
Discussion
Repost from BMW General, both areas seem relevant.
Hi all,
I'm trying to contact the organizer or any participants in this run of BMWs that was running West from Rhayader(I was travelling East) through the Elan Valley area around mid-day today. Around 8-12 cars were in the initial convoy, with 1-2 others a way behind. Lead car was a Z4, then several older cars, last was a light blue E9X 330/335.
Unfortunately 2 of the main convoy were entirely on the wrong side of the road coming around a medium speed blind bend, almost causing a head-on. A few minutes later a carbon copy, as another BMW(I'm assuming a straggler) appeared from a blind bend on the wrong side of the road, again requiring severe evasive action to avoid something serious. 'making progress' wasn't a factor given they were in a steady convoy.
At first I was pleased to see another group enjoying their cars up here, unfortunately that was quickly marred by disappointment after the aforementioned incidents. I always have a little sympathy for folks inexperienced on these types of roads because they can narrow and widen without much warning in places. In this case the road was fully marked with dividing markings and plenty wide, so it was taking the piss.
Hoping the organizer can have a word with members in light of this, before someone gets killed.
